The Lime & Violet Knit Along!

Fans of the Lime and Violet Podcast can show their colors with Lisa Souza Lime & Violet sock yarn. The projects are as varied as Lime & Violet's audience -- the common thread is the awesome yarn.

Just joined!

Hi everyone!

So I have Miss Lime and Ms. Violet to blame...I mean thank...for my new addiction to Lisa Souza's yarns. I have 4 skeins - 2 in the Lime and Violet colorway, one Mars Quake and one Wild Things. Fabulousness all around!

I bought 2 Lime and Violet skeins because the fabulous Miss Lime had the fabulous idea of making thigh-high socks. An idea which I'm totally stealing. I may not go thigh-high, but I'm definitely making at least knee-high socks. I'll be using the guidelines found here.

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you are up to!

Wrangle wrangle,
Michelle

Patterns Wanted!

Some of our KALers have been asking, "What should I knit with this yummy yarn?" and "What are other people knitting?" To make it easier to share, we've added a link in the sidebar, and will provide links to patterns from there. So, submit a post with a pattern, or email us a link with a pattern, and we'll make sure it gets added to the blog. Please be considerate of the pattern author, and give them credit where appropriate.

To start things off, there is a link to "Snakes on a Sock!" This sock has received rave reviews for looking great and being fun to knit. I'll vouch for both - it's on my needles. There's a KAL for that pattern here -
Snakes on a Sock KAL.

Just Joined

Hi everyone,

I just joined the group, ordered my luscious Lime and Violet Yarn, and made some buttons for my blog! Feel free to grab one and use it on your blog to link to the Lime and Violet KAL.

Can't wait to get my yarn and start thinking about which pattern I'm going to use...........it is dropping to freezing every night up here in the Rockies and my tootsies are ready for new wool socks! And, I can't wait to see what lovely sock YOU are going to knit!

What do you get when you combine this:

with this?

The first ever L&V Friday the 13th contest! In honor of our official start date (though starting early is allowed and encouraged - who can resist that yarn?) the first person to post a picture of a hockey mask (a la Jason) made with Lisa Souza Lime & Violet yarn will win a skein of yarn that has been hand-dyed by Miss Violet herself!

You know, lime and violet really DO just go together so well. What a great color combination. Check out these glass marbles!

Fastest Delivery...ever!

I just got my sock yarn yesterday...I ordered it Saturday! That is easily the quickest shipping EVER! And it is so funky and delightful - now what to make out of it? I'd love to hear what other people are doing. The obvious choice for me is socks right? But I am trying to think out of the sock drawer on this one. Help wanted...please apply within!:)

Going to get my yarn soon!

Just got my email from Linda today. I can't wait! I think the best part of this KAL is searching for patterns. Hope I got enough!

The Last Knit

Let's make sure none of us do this with our Lime & Violet yarn....

The ranks are growing.

It's so awesome to see you guys signing up! Welcome! This is really going to be a lot of fun.

Remember, to sign up, send an email with your name and blog info (if you have a blog) to lnvkal@gmail.com and we'll add you to the side bar. Please keep in mind that this KAL is organized around using the Lime & Violet colorway from Lisa Souza so you'll need to be using that yarn.

We didn't make that a requirement to exclude anyone, please understand. But every KAL needs a common theme and since we aren't working on a specific pattern and since the Lisa Souza yarn IS the official yarn of the Lime & Violet podcast, this yarn IS our theme. You can do anything you want to with it and it's possible that the colorway will soon be available in yarns other than the sock yarn -- that's what I've been given to understand anyway. I could be wrong! In fact, I'll do my best to find out and let you know.

And now, more color inspiration:

These sprite dolls were handmade by Doreen Smith of Woodland Sprites Fantasy Sculptures. There's one named Violet sprite, but she's totally blue instead of purple.

Gearing Up

We are busy sorting out possible prizes.

I tell you this to tempt you, of course.

Start date: October 13th.

Yes, that's Friday the 13th. Somehow, it just seemed appropriate. *grin*

When emailing lnvkal@gmail.com for signups, please include your blog address if you have one! That way we'll all be able to keep in touch and follow progress. Photos of finished objects will be posted here and we'll have a gallery as well, when the time comes.

If you don't have a blog, that's just fine as well. You are still welcome to sign up and participate.

And now, another photo for inspiration:

That's from a woman named Ruth Walker at www.boundlessgallery.com -- be sure to check out the rest of her hats if you like this one.

Welcome!

Ah, the start of a new KAL. There's so much potential. There's so much promise. There's so much....

Okay, I ran out of synonyms that start with the letter p.

In any event, sign ups are now open! If you have (or are planning to purchase) the Lisa Souza Sock! or Sock! Merino yarn in the Lime & Violet colorway, then this is the KAL for YOU. Just send an email to lnvkal@gmail.com to join in the fun. If you have a blog, please let us know the URL so we can link to it!

There are no project restrictions. Sock yarn is perfect for socks, but it's also great for gloves and shawls and sweaters and legwarmers and tons of other stuff. Now is your chance to show off with the pattern of your choice.

To get us all in the mood, check out this vase in lime green and violet purple:

(Vase is from www.cliffhousestudio.com and the image is stored locally. Hotlinking is bad, kids!)
